Brave browser crashes
« on: November 01, 2022, 08:54:36 AM »
I know some folks on APS use Brave browser, so I thought I'd mention this.

Starting last night, Brave started crashing repeatedly.  I'd relaunch and then it would crash again after a minute or two.  Every time.

The fix I found was to go to Customize on the dashboard (the new page window), then down to Cards, then at the bottom turning off Cards completely.

Hope this helps someone.

I have it on my home computer as a sort of backup/alternative browser.  I used it a little last night with no issues.  I will have to look for that setting.

Running Brave on my desk top PC. No issues here.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Thanks for the tip.  Turned off cards.  It's not crashed for me, but cards is an annoyance.

Works for me...
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

Mine locks up periodically and I'm beginning to suspect it's when I'm on one of the twitter links provided by APS posters.  Not sure, but started to maybe be aware of it, so we'll see.

I found every time I have to use Win 7's (yeah, yeah, I know) Restore function I have to reload it from my downloaded exe files.

My other browsers (Chrome, FIrefox) seem to pass right through the Restore process with no problem.

Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it, although I don't get much involved with high level stuff.  I don't do games, for example.  I'm the fuddiest of duddies.
