Nope, I'm still getting this red screen telling me various safe sites are unsafe. Running another spybot and will then download free pc tools/doctor and see if that works.

Try Malwarebytes.

Then combofix. (make sure you get it only from the bleepingcomputer page)

And yes, unhide everything in your windows explorer preferences.
I promise not to duck.

yup, how do I unhide it? both spybot and free doctor have failed to fix the issue. The open cloud seems to be gone but it keeps throwing security warnings.

yea, I tried all that. Even with malware installed it would not allow me access to it. Everything seems to be back to normal after the restore.

I have used MS Malicious Software Removal Tool on occasion.

Find the .exe for Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes.exe, or mbam.exe or whatever it's called, and rename it to asdkhiao3948hu.exe and run it.

Many viruses/malware block or prevent the execution of known cleaning tools names, and simply renaming them to something random allows them a first run.

I would still run a raft of tools, because it's quite likely there's malware hiding in various places like the restore point files, and critical system file backups etc.
I promise not to duck.

Are you running all you anti-virus/malware/spyware programs in safe mode?

If not, there's a good chance whatever you've got is just replicating itself.

Try that and see if your luck improves.

stay safe.
