Thought of this tonight while my wife and I were discussing the interesting phenomena of things that seem pretty normal in one context but would be unusual in a different context. It occurred to me that some famous coach must have started this way back when. It's been going on for as long as I can remember.

Any 'old timers' here remember when it didn't happen, or remember a particular coach or other famous figure who started it?

I don't know how it started, but I never really cared for it.  Same thing with baseball players and chewing tobacco.  Or how about always adjusting themselves?
