Who was looking for a computer for seniors?
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:00:23 PM »
Ben? Brad? I think it was one of you chaps.

I found a back issue of the VFW magazine, in which I found the ad I was thinking of when I read the previous thread on this topic. It's called the WOW! computer.

http://www.mywowcomputer.com/

I think the "WOW!" part comes from a typical reaction to the price. Over $1,000 for a brain-dead touch screen with a keyboard. But -- it looks like it might be pretty much aging parental unit-proof.

Got Mom fixed up. Mostly had to do with getting wayyyyyy too impatient and contually punching random buttons when the computer wasn't responding. Couple that with finally closing the top in frustration and interrupting an update. It took a couple of reboots to get the update straightened out but seems to be fine now.

... until the next time...

I'm going to take the suggestion of installing a remote login setup. At least then I can have some amount of direct input when things get wonky.

You might also set yourself as the sys admin and limit what she can do as a user.

I am really liking the chrome box we bought for the garage.

It would make a great oldster machine.

Limited user base, good support, and such lead to it being expensive per unit.
