US Contribution to the UN
« on: December 22, 2015, 03:05:07 PM »
I know most of us here would like to see the US tell the UN to take a hike, which will probably never happen. Given the numbers in the linked article though, I don't know why we have never just told them, "we're cutting our payments by 25%. Deal with it."

While I wouldn't expect it from this administration, it should have happened in several past administrations. Seriously, what would the UN do except roll over? They can't tell us to leave, because they need us about 100,000 times more than we need them. Either countries that have been getting a free ride would have to step up, or not, because who (in the US) cares if they don't? The UN knows they can keep giving them (including big dogs like China and Russia) a free ride because we're the ones who always roll over.

I really hope the next Republican administration puts its foot down about this.

I'd say- pay the UN 8 billion, then charge them 8 billion in real estate taxes- if they don't like it, they can gtfo.

[pronounced "un"]

Narrator: and the U.N. un-nazied the world - forever.

Can we afford to get rid of the UN?

They've already un-nazified the world, so their job is done.  Time to fire them.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
