The last time we played politics with the Olympics was under the Carter Administration, to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Aside from robbing the network of a lot of better-than-average programming, and destroying the dreams of hundreds of American athletes, it accomplished nothing. Nothing.
Imagine if we'd boycotted the 1936 Olympics, and Jesse Owens had stayed home.
So, let folks protest all they want, while we go over and kick ass.
