My Father, Rufus Benjamin Rodgers Jr, Sergeant, USMC 1943-1945, passed away at around 20:30 Hrs, Sept. 15. He was 81 years old. Dad joined the Marines right out of high school. He participated in the campaigns for Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima as a member of the 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.

I'm sorry for your loss.  You had a lot of years with him.  It's never enough though, is it?

God bless him, you, and the rest of the family Fianna.  My dad passed away April 15th of this year, two weeks after Mom died.  He was a WWII vet also, U.S. Army, 104th Infantry Division -The Timberwolves. They served in Europe and fought some mighty battles closing in on Berlin in 1945.

My condolences, Fianna.

My condolences, FF.  It is always a tragedy (for those of us who remain behind) when a good man dies.

My maternal granddad was a Marine on Iwo Jima.  He had his kneecap shot off.  About 20 years later, the damage eventually lead to gangrene in the leg & killed him.

It is a wonderful thing you got to have so much time with your dad.  I thank you for his service.
Regards,
