Speaking of Ringo books..

John has started a Zombie series with "Under a Graveyard Sky".

Liked it.  So far, he's omitted the lurid sex/porn scenes.  Over the top on the gunplay, but hey, Ringo, mmmkay?

I got the E-Arc of that one a couple months ago.  Good story so far, I'm looking forward to the second one.  (some of the boat details are pretty far off though)

If anyone read the first one, and cares, I stumbled across To Sail A Darkling Sea on the nook store.  Pretty much same as the first one, but more.  Lots of guns and zombies.  I can't tell if he's gearing up for a 8-10 book series, or if he's going to do like the Posleen books. But it was a quick, enjoyable read.

The second has one or two "Oh John Ringo No" moments, but VERY mildly so for John Ringo. Good books. Dude can write, he just needs someone with a rolled up newspaper to smack him when he goes too John Ringo. You never go full John Ringo.

First Ringo book I read was the Ghost one. Or rather, tried to read. I couldn't get more than halfway through it.

So I was very very hesitant to try the Posleen War series. Surprisingly it was like reading a completely different author. Much more enjoyable.

Then I started the Looking Glass, read the Von Neumann's War book, and then read the Troy Rising series. Enjoyable.

I had read the Posleen War series based on a recommendation I saw, perhaps here?  I even thought the Add-ons and ones done with other writers were very good.  Even the ones written with "he whose name shall not be mentioned".   However, by the time I got to the Cally's War series, it was obvious they were out of ideas, and was starting to get "Oh John Ringo NO!!"-ish.

The Troy series was a good and interesting read.

Von Neumann's War was somewhat predictable.  (Eccentric whom everyone laughs at, saves the world.)

The Last Centurion was fantastic, despite the "Oh John Ringo No !!" part.  (Which could have been easily written so it comes off less statutory rape-y.)

I only got through the first two Empire of Man aka the "March to" series because the library can't find their copy of March to the Stars.

Then I read A Deeper Blue (only book in the Ghost series that my library has and I can see why).  It seemed like simply a collection of of "Oh John Ringo, NO!!".  and turned me off.

Yeah, I just avoid the entire ghost series after reading one. 

The Posleen series is picking back up with the new enemy, if he'll ever write any more.

I enjoy Looking Glass and this new series as kind of a literary action flick.  Just good escapism.

I ended up with both of the Ringo zombie books and enjoyed them immensely.
