Nancy pelosi
« on: March 12, 2008, 05:03:39 PM »
I am not very good at searching for stuff either on the internet, or here in the forum. can someone verify if this is real or not? i just got it in an email and have no source for it.

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the
American people, you're so stupid that we're going to keep doing this until
we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is
saying. Read below...............

Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. You aren't
going to believe this. Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall
Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement funds, 401Ks and
Mutual Funds!) Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal
Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities! Boy, are we in trouble... This
woman is frightening. She quotes..." We need to work toward the goal of
equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount
the rich can invest. "When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent,
she replied:  "We need to raise the standard of living of our poor,
unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million
illegal   immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of
unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long
ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to
have as 'Americans'."

Raising the living standards of the unemployed would seem to be counter productive.

The many minorities in my neighborhood seem to have a standard of living that is just fine.  They don't need her help.

Ms. Pelosi is too smart to say things like that in public.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

It's crap.

A quick trip to Snopes will reveal that.

I am absolutely amazed at how many people feel that if they run something through "snopes" and "snopes" says it's not true - well then, it can't be true.  Come on people. . . think!  Quit relying on an internet source to determine what's true and what's not - particulary when it comes to your future.  Baby-boomers are now the "retirement generation" and anyone who wants to take from our future better realize the severity of their plan!

I am more likely to believe Snopes, which values its reputation, than a random chain email.

It is just another source that has a portion of trust until it disappoints me.  As said above, I trust it more than chain emails and it often links to its own sources.

On the other hand, Senator Obama recently said - in a public setting - even if raising capital gains tax would result in a net decrease in revenue (which it invariable does) he would raise capital gains taxes anyway, out of 'fairness'.

Folks, it is a religious obligation for a liberal to raise taxes.  End of discussion.

Did Speaker Pelosi make such a statement as quoted?  Scopes says no.  Will the liberal faction in Congress keep attempting to tax the population of the United States into unconsciousness?  It appears so from their past record.

And every time you hear the old canard about "... the rich should pay their fair share..." just remember the bottom half of American earners pay no tax at all.  None.  The top one percent (1%) pay something near forty percent (40%) of all income taxes.  So who is paying their 'fair share'?
As long as the citizens of the United States own and keep personal weapons, we can argue about all the other issues that concern us.  The instant we lose the ability to keep weapons, our masters will decide all those other issues for us.

Pelosi, a Democrat, is Speaker of the House.  And a Republican is not.  Why is that?

The above is an open invitation for all you Rush/Hannity/Cunningham, etc hatemongers to spew.  Go for it.

Well, if the Democrats were the be-all and save-all for our nation, don't you think that their approval ratings would be at least better than the evil Bushco?Huh?  Its not about aiming for Bush's approval ratings.

Actually, the Snopes article I was in was remarkedly well researched and balanced.  I realize it's anecdotal evidence, sorta.  But still.  But I have few doubts some taxes will be levied directly or indirectly on retirement.  Usually the govt is pretty good about burying taxes so you don't initially notice them.

Yea but you can bet they will.  The Roth account was a huge chess move which brought a lot of cash into the coffers because people could convert traditional accounts (a smart temporary move) and the deductions went away but you watch, they will change that when government starts feeling the crunch of billions of tax free dollars going to people.
