What are MAGA hats going for these days, $35? That has to be at least petty larceny, and if he pulled out some hair in the theft of the hat, that's assault. Possibly even aggravated assault. The kid should file a police complaint. They have the video -- it shouldn't be hard to find the guy.

I had forgotten about that.  Texas law differentiates theft in general versus theft directly from a person.  It was in a Texas Law Shield talk.  I guess I need to watch some of that again.

Can't find it again at the moment, but apparently he has now been arrested for "theft off person" and the article commented he could be facing up to two years total.

And it's not just revenge, or trolling for sweet Lefty tears. Political violence, especially left-wing violence, has become a real problem (again). We're at the point where the ACLU won't bother to defend a bakery, much less an actual Nazi march. We have to actually explain to people that they shouldn't punch a man just because they think he's a Nazi.

Or just because the say he is a Nazi. Subtle difference, but besides people apparently not even knowing what a Nazi is, the name has simply become a way to attack anyone you don't like. You could, for argument's sake, decide that calling someone a "widget" also required punching them.

It's almost similar to McCarthyism to me. I think a lot of the people then that accused people of being commies didn't actually believe those people were commies. They just didn't like them and wanted to ruin their lives.

Luckily (not for the victim of course) recorded instances like this are actually pretty good publicity for showing how whacked out the "you're a Nazi!" crowd is. Sadly, I saw plenty of quotes from political pundits and the usual dumbass celebrities who did the, "It's wrong to assault someone. Non one deserves that no matter what their political views are... but this kid kinda does because MAGA=Nazi" thing.
