Grandfather Says Police Stormed Home, Pointed Gun at Head
« on: October 21, 2008, 02:11:35 PM »
Another isolated incident.  Another innocent person terrorized and violated in their own home by the people who are supposed to keep society safe.

So, they couldn't send some fat detective over to ask about the phone?

Maybe a letter?  It could be certified. =D

All of that over one disposable cellular phone?  And, the grandson showed up, gave over the suspect phone that he bought on the street, and wasn't even arrested?

Therefore he wasn't even a suspect in the theft?

What judge signed this warrant?  I want his *expletive deleted*ss on a platter.

Every time I read about something like this, I understand why some people around here are so anti-LEO, anti-prosecutor, and anti-judge.  Piss poor police work, poor prosecutor and judicial oversight.  Crap work all around.

I smell the makings of a lawsuit.
If that is the whole story and he has a right lawyer he will get an undisclosed settlement.
The part that is worse then the story is the city will pay him off because it is just tax payers
money. Not theirs.
With the laws the way they are someone needs to find a loophole to make the lazy cop that
lied or the lazy judge that signed the warrant liable.
Then we might get a few rights back.
And stop wasting so many tax dollars.
Sometimes we carry more weight then we owe.
And sometimes goes on and on and on.

Are cops and lawyers immune from suits brought because of damage done due to their negligence or incompetence? If so why and how did that get past law makers? Oh - wait - most law makers are lawyers and probably incomptetent ones too - why else would they settle for a government salary over what they could get in private practice.

Aren't the prosecutors and judges the ones who ultimately hold the police accountable or their work?  If they can't or won't prosecute or allow evidence, it sort of means the police are spinning their wheels.

What we need are more informed grand juries. They are the ones who get to decide whether a case should be heard or not.

I think it's interesting that they were so heavy handed after a cell phone theft.

I wonder if there isn't more to this story.

I'm surprised at you people. Everyone knows only drug dealers, pimps and terrorists use pre-paid disposable cell phones.

It is unfortunate that, in some areas and in some federal levels, those who are supposed to protect us are protected by law if they screw up.  Even if they shoot and kill the wrong person.  Many people don't trust the police for this kind of heavy handed work.

Somebody needs to be publicly career limited or terminated over schlok police work.  I don't expect perfection.  I do expect paying attention to details.  What would have been the response had grandpa suffered a grabber whilst the firearms were pointed at his head.
