Ex-Soldier Raids Animal Shelter With Assault Rifle, in Full Tactical Gear, To Get Cat Back
https://themindunleashed.com/2021/01/ex-soldier-raids-animal-shelter-with-assault-rifle-in-full-tactical-gear-to-get-cat-back.html
Upon learning that the shelter would be unable to release his feline friend until the next morning, the former soldier decided to escalate matters by invading the premises and brandishing his assault weapon at the worker. According to her, the firearm looked like “something a SWAT team in the movies would use.”
The unhinged gunman then proceeded to grill the woman about “where all the cats were” as he continued brandishing the weapon with his finger on the trigger. He eventually forced the woman to get on her knees before he tied her hands behind her back with zip-ties.
The next morning, as detectives combed over the scene for any evidence of the strange incursion, Wittmann returned to retrieve his cat. In addition to failing to get his cat back, he was also detained and jailed, and has been deprived of the right to post bail.
I guess he is a cat guy. Maybe a crazy cat guy.

Right?
If it was a dog guy, the raid would have entailed at least 30 men and would have rescued all the dogs. =D

He didn't actually hurt anyone . . . but he didn't get his cat back either.
And now for his trouble he'll be spending time in the Graybar Motel - still catless. Pointing guns at people and tying them up is generally frowned on.
Cat people.

Yeah, always shooting themselves in the foot like this.

Back in 2014, when my cat was 18+ years old, she went into kidney distress. Unfortunately, not unexpected at that age. It was a Sunday afternoon, so I had to call the emergency line then wait at the vet for somebody to show up. The vet said it was possible for treatment to save her, if only for a couple more years, so I told them to do what they could within reason. They said come back at 8pm and if she's doing okay, I could take her home.
When I got back at that time, there was nobody there, and the place was locked up. I called the emergency number again and nobody picked up. So I waited in my car until 10pm, listening to an NPR story about Eleanor Roosevelt's fireside chat radio broadcasts. At that point I gave up, sick to my stomach that my cat might die alone and afraid.
And that's what happened. They called me the next morning to tell me she hadn't survived the night. It was heartbreaking. But what I did not do is come back armed and force my way in.

An emotional support cat obviously.
I wonder if it was a real "assault rifle", Australia after all and no mention of being charged with that.
But Wittmann — who served in the Australian army before he was discharged for failing to render efficient service
I wonder if that is the Australian version of a Big Chicken Dinner, or whatever they may call it. ;)

At this point, telling someone that someone else might come in, and tie them up, hurts people.

This story is 18 months old. He was due back in court in April, 2021. Does anybody have any resolution to this old news? ???
