USA Today removed 23 articles from its website on Thursday after an internal audit found a reporter quoted people who either did not exist, were not part of the organizations the reporter tied them to, and faked evidence of interviews and recordings entirely, The New York Times first reported.

Don't get too excited - remember that the iceberg principle applies.
Just like the majority of an iceberg is below the surface and unseen, there are probably a LOT of faked stories for every one that is eventually revealed as a fabrication.

Elizabeth Warren has come under fire in recent years over her claims of Native American ancestry. Following mockery from President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers, Warren released the results of a DNA test in October that showed the “vast majority” of her ancestry is European but that she had a distant relative who is Native American. She had signed an information sheet representing herself as Native American.
