Yup, I'm going to turn the basement floor temp up a couple degrees at like 10 pm so theres some heat stored in it to see us through any below -4* times. And cross my fingers.
Solar is great for the summer but takes some mighty fancy designing to work in the winter. You usually have to build the house around it. Up north here anyways. When I lived in FL my apt had a passive solar hot water heater that'd scald you on a hot day. After a couple cloudy days it would get cold though.
