Amidst the black gun frenzy
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:27:13 PM »
I suddenly developed a hankering for one of those space blaster-looking .22 target guns, like a tricked-out Ruger Mark. Preferably bright blue, or something.

I can't really afford that level of fancy, at least not all at once. Maybe it will be my new year resolution, to gradually build one...
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Personally, all this craziness and inability to get the new lower I was wanting made me look for a new bullpup (since I can't really afford the PS-90 I REALLY want.)

And I found this: http://sgworks.com/

Very interested in the idea. I never wanted to use the duckbill mags on my SKS, but I'm really liking the idea of a bullpup 7.62x39... Likely to get me some looks at the range, too.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

That is pretty interesting.

It's been almost 2 years since I've bought a gun. Lately I've developed a hankering for a Marlin 1895 in .45-70.
I've gotten lucky 3 time in 3 months when the one on the rack turned out to be a .444.

That can be fixed, without going all goofy-assed bullpup.

All goofy-assed bull-pup is an improvement to an SKS.  :P

IIRC, that stock isn't available any longer.

Or maybe I'm thinking about the one you used for another SKS, the one without the bayonet.

Chris, I don't think either the East German camo synthetic for the Yugo, or the black synthetic sporter are available now in 2013.

Stuff waxes and wanes with the availability of a given type of rifle.  (I'm not counting Tapco, aka, "Crapco" - something tells me they'll always be pushing stuff out the door.)

When the Yugo SKS variants were coming in hot and heavy, there were all sorts of stocks sold to fit them.

That sporter synthetic stock for my benchrest SKS was an easy find at the time all those Norincos were getting imported, too.

I don't like bullpup conversions because all of the ones I handled/fired had the most Gawd-awful triggers, thanks to the linkage and associated monkey motion.

Huh.

I be cruisin' for a lever gun in .22 WMR.

LGS has a Winchester 9422, 20" bbl, but they want $700 for it.  Yes, I understand it's probably the best implementation; yes, I understand that that's not really a bad price.  But I can get two Henry "plain Jane" .22 mag levers for that same dosh.

Well, (ahem) that is to say could, provided the dosh ever shows up.

It's my understanding that original Winchester 9422s, either in .22LR or .22 WMR, are commanding serious prices since they went belly-up.

I should ask Wife #2 if she wants to sell hers, come to think of it...
