They and the media can try to cover for Hillary right through the election and hope this story doesn't get bigger, or they can get her out of the way now and try to get another real candidate. Yes, but he was already in the race. 14.5 months before election isn't much time to groom a brand new candidate. Sanders' socialism will turn off the mass of voters, and Mallory seems incapable of creating any sparks.

I have seen her do some really smart (read that conniving) stuff, and some really dumb stuff. So I wonder if it is just a "blank" server, or if she had someone who knows what they're doing wipe it. If the latter, then how much time and effort will the gov put in to data recovery?

Of course if she's really smart, she created a disk full of benign stuff, hit the "format" button, stuck it in the server and handed that to the FBI, and had an assistant throw the original hard drive into the Atlantic.

I can just imagine in a meeting with Putin, Hillary being told to back off supporting Ukraine or he’ll release her emails (as he hands her a folder containing the most damaging ones for her to peruse). Put in that position, would Hillary fall on her sword or sacrifice a country like Ukraine? I don’t know, but I wouldn’t want to be living in Ukraine…

I was also told that the big thing for crypto violators at Leavenworth is volleyball. Crypto prisoners are generally not considered exactly dangerous, they get pretty light treatment and generally you'd prefer to be at Leavenworth than virtually any other similar prison, though it's pretty much like being in Basic. More discipline, but generally safer.

I'd think that there's going to be emails on .gov systems with header info that shows it coming from Hillary's server, and with some going to Hillary's server too.  Arguably, if the political will exists to nail her to the wall, there's plenty of evidence on other systems that can be forensically reconstructed to show what must have been on her server even if it's not there now.

Then the wiped server just becomes destruction of evidence/obstruction of justice.

So in my eyes, this is all just a wait-n-see game to see if the political winds will allow her to be destroyed.

This.  I don't see how she thinks she's hiding anything unless there are people on the sending side willing to be accomplices.  It's so easy to trace activity via logs.  Hell, feed it all into Splunk and generate a nice report showing the activity patterns. :D

The most incriminating information wasn't the Top Secret things she honestly didn't care about keeping secret. What she's hiding was her own secrets about quid pro quo and the Clinton Foundation. THAT is what she thinks she's hiding and those on the sending side have a vested interest in keeping it secret or their investment is wasted.

IMO her fate mainly rests in the threshold, if there even is one, at which things are egregious enough where eventually people will start to put country ahead of party. And that threshold for Democrats is already pretty darn high.

Yes to most of that, especially tracing emails from .gov-.com. Though a lot of that is not necessarily illegal, but just against regulations. There are a ton of .gov employees that use their personal phone to send and receive .gov emails "for convenience" (i.e., they think the .gov regs are stupid, which in some cases they are). In fact Hillary defenders are now saying she just wanted to be like "normal people":

The tricky part will be the TS stuff. I'm not even sure how that got transferred. As Bill pointed out, there should have been a bunch of automated stuff to prevent it. I don't know how it might have been done, and the guys here who know likely can't say, but for at least one of the emails, somehow an NGIA image must have been moved from an airgapped system to an Internet system.

Staffers/drones, using Windows snipping tool, cut-n-paste of contents on screen, and forwarding stuff for Hillary with just raw text content and images, stripped of all security headers.

Unless .gov applications, mail systems, and file formats were specifically designed to be proprietary, and defeat at least most of the known common screen capture functions (assuming our .gov was REALLY serious about security, and used non-commercial OS'es... of course not.) like detecting all known Windows API's that can do a screen grab, and a keyboard hook that prevents PrtScrn from keyboard input from dumping the desktop to the clipboard... there's a dozen manual ways a user could defeat it.

Hell, they could have had a staffer sitting at a desk with a smartphone, taking pictures of the screens, and forwarding them to Hillary, and the threat goes out there'll be hell to pay if anyone says word boo about it.
