There's no hypocrisy in saying that you'll only approve a nominee in an election year if the president is of your party. Why would we expect the Senate to do otherwise? It's not as if a 9th justice is constitutionally required anyhow.

It will be funny, if God forbid the Democrats have the Senate at the tail end of Trump's second term, and a vacancy occurs.

Why not this? If that's the stance someone takes and they stick to it, no hypocrisy there either.
In the moral, catatonic stupor America finds itself in today it is only disagreement we seek, and the more virulent that disagreement, the better.

It doesn't really matter to me.  Making up names to call it is just more politics.

The Republicans should nominate a new SC judge and should confirm them because they have the Presidency and a majority in the Senate.  More or less because they can under the Constitution and that is what has been done in the past.  The Democrats would not hesitate to do the same.

So far, everything I am reading about Barrett indicates she is very bright and a skilled legal scholar, which is good.

Which means that she molested someone, kicks dogs, eats BBQ children, and once yelled at her mother, making her totally unfit to be a justice.

You forgot that in the third grade, she told another little girl that her mother dresses her funny.

Post-Kavanaugh, should they even have hearings, or just vote on her?

Might be good to see them attack a woman on CSPAN.

I misread this as 'chicken', and thought 'well, what is wrong with that?'.

I can't recall for sure, but aren't hearings somewhat new-ish over the last ~200 years?

My sister thinks that birth control and gay marriage will be outlawed now that RBG isn’t there to protect womens rights🙄 Mind you the only Supreme Court case she could name if her life depended on it is Roe vs Wade and she has virtually no clue about how government or rights work.

Selective quotations -- pick what fits the narrative du jour:

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2020/09/22/cruz-blocks-rgb-resolution-objecting-to-mention-of-her-dying-wish-keep-seat-open-for-next-president/

From the article:

Quote
Democrats, who in 2016 urged Garland’s confirmation, have ripped into Republicans for hypocrisy, while blasting the GOP for not honoring Ginsburg’s dying request – as relayed to her granddaughter – that “I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Yet it wasn't all that long ago that Mrs. Ginsberg said, "The President serves for four years, not three." And the Constitution says that

Quote
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

Getting down to basics, in legal and statutory language the word "shall" is mandatory, whereas the word "may" is optional. Therefore, it is Trump's Constitutional duty to nominate a replacement for RBG. Failure to do would, in strict fact, amount to nonfeasance of his duty.

I wonder if any network/cable channels will even allow this to get airplay?

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I got to admit, I had Obama Derangement Syndrome (I probably listened to him talk no more than 60 seconds in the 8 years he was President).

But what I had is nothing compared to Trump Derangement Syndrome.
