I've seen this cartoon a birrion times.  It's amazing, and pretty sad at the same time.

From what I've read and the WW2/Korea era vets I've spoken with it seems that in that period the 2A was simply a given in every day life, despite the NFA being passed some 14 years before. It was only 3 years after the Second World War and a 15 year old could go into a hardware store, lay down 25 dollars for a surplus army rifle and walk out with it as soon as the cashier had finished the transaction. As one of these gentlemen related to me "there were barrels filled with 1903's and the like. After I bought it I slung it on my shoulder, got on the city bus with it and rode home. No one so much as batted an eye at it, it was normal." A different world indeed.

That's one of the things that makes me sad.  Not just because of what all is in the video, but what all the video reminds me of.

Taxes are lower.

You can actually carry concealed weapons through most of the states.

You can own gold.

There is no military draft,  censorship and Jim Crow are dead.

If you were white and/or not one of "those people" (and the cops/sheriff knew who "they" were) you could carry concealed most everywhere in the country without real hassle.

Equal treatment under the law and the move toward gun control had consequences for folks who were never bothered no matter the law on the books.
