A very large number of conservatives are keenly aware that their ideological 'revival' was screwed over by the Republican Party. These conservatives, of which I'm one of, want to see the party destroyed and scattered to the 4 winds. Love trump/ hate trump, he most certainly is the murder weapon used to kill the party. It's glorious watching all of the neocons flock to support Hillary, who has always been their ideological fraternal sister. It's too bad Bernie got cheated out of a chance for nomination for his party as he would have forced democrats into openly supporting a socialist.

I wouldn't start pounding nails in the Tea Party's coffin just yet.  I think a lot jumped on the Trump Train after being sold out by the Republican party after the 2014 elections.   So when they had a chance to give a big FU to the party, they did.  Granted it was with the wrong candidate, but it's still a long way from dead.   Trump may or may not be the deathknell of the Republican party.  That remains to be seen, but the R's are definitely becoming more and more marginalized.

Related but not related--does anyone remember a thread from several years back where some liberal popped in here and said something about Tea Party people being paid protesters? And a couple people came back and said they had actually been at Tea Party rallies. I want to say this was 2011 or 2010.

The Tea Party stuff was never a top down movement.  It was always just a "throw the bums out" sort of thing.  If there was anything that killed it was the fact that most of the candidates that were swept into office end up as sell-outs.  However, it is still healthy to throw the bums out periodically.

Same here, WRT the events.  There was a pretty good local following in NE Ohio.  Guy owns a restaurant that became the monthly Tea Party meeting place.

 It was really cool how engaged everyONE was, until we all got disgusted and gave up  :facepalm:

There were a few good moments....electing Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz were small victories. But the fix was in from the beginning.

Some people can take a subtle hint. Some require a baseball bat. The GOP establishment wouldn't take the hint. Now they get the bat....

I went to a few rallies here that Cruz was at. Also a few when Perry was launching his White House bid. Was pretty cool.
