Have we established that the Patriot Act was responsible for those sneak and peaks?  I recall reading that these sorts of searches happened before the patriot act was law.

And, call me strange, but I'm skeptical of testimony from stalking horse flunkies brought in to testify on congressman's favored issue.

There are two million Jihadis? Where?

I dunno.  I'm sure 2MM's a conservative estimate though.

Wait! New math alert -- my head hurts.

763 "sneak & peak" requests. 496 (65%) were for drugs. 3 (0.4%) were for terrorist related cases. Something is missing ...

What were the other 264 (34.6%) for? This is what's wrong with what passes for "journalism" today. The twits are handed some numbers, which they dutifully parrot. And nobody notices that a full third of the pile is mysteriously AWOL.

I'm looking at the report right now.  The type of offense and number of GRANTED warrants are below:

Drugs: 496
Fraud: 53
Weapons: 39
Tax: 5 (it's at a whacky spot in the list because they requested a whole slew for tax reasons but only got 5)
Extortion: 23
Unspecified: 23
Fugitive: 25
Theft: 15
Kidnapping: 19
Sex Offenses: 12
Murder: 14
Assault: 8
Contraband: 5
Robbery: 5
Threats: 7
Food and drug: 5
Counterfeit: 3
Terrorism: 3
Conspiracy: 3
Bribery: 2
Other: 8

So, now you know what the other 34% is.  It's kinda boring stuff. :)

So they're more likely to use the Patriot Act against people with 'illegal guns' than against actual terrorists. Glad we've settled that.

didn't you hear? We no longer have terrorists, we have "man made disasters". We wouldn't want to offend the muslim terrorists, now would we?
Thanks, DHS, Thanks, Janet Napolitano.

And I thought Michael Chertoff was a weasel!

And here are 120,000 self-written search warrants [watch the first video of the episode].
