Sad.  =(

On the bright side, no one else was killed, it was not an "assault weapon," so it shouldn't be too terribly useful to the Occupation.  =|

Must not have been a "No Guns" sign on every door  ;/
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Those signs only work on handguns

The gunman responsible for Friday's shooting at Arapahoe High School in Colorado is being described as a "socialist" by his fellow students.

"He was friendly enough. Very proud of being a socialist. He was very outspoken on his political views," student Angie Mock said. "To him, it just meant economic -- more economic equality."

12 gauge pump legally bought a week before the act, ammo bought on the way that day.  Had a machete and three incendiary dwvices...

Sad that these kind of things keep happening.   Hate to bring politics in, but it appears that this shooter is not the typical conservative, gun hugger.  It apears he may have even blasted the Repub. Party for posing gun control.

Maybe it's not about guns, or politics  huh?  Wonder if Mr. VP will come out and clarify that he meant  double-barrel shotguns, only...

When the spree or mass-shooters have identifiable politics, they do seem to be leftist an alarming amount of time. What used to be inflammatory hyperbole used by us to incite anti-gunners and liberals is now looking more and more to be eerily true. Dorner, Holmes, Loughner all belonged to groups or campaigns, or wrote things that seem to be on the political Left side of things. No guns, but the guy who flew the plane into the IRS office had left a long Lefty manifesto behind. Even Harris or Klebold, I forget which one, had written Democratic Colorado representatives against their impending CCW bill. Which is usually a Leftist position to take.

Although as I’ve expounded on the Book of Faces, I now think the actual act of the school/mall/mass shooting, unless clearly identified as a particular terrorist cause, is inherently Leftist/Socialist/Collectivist in nature.

If one thinks about the shooter’s motives, assuming it’s not a brain tumor or a simple case of being 100% bat-**** crazy, they’re ALL angry about inequality of outcomes, not inequality of opportunity. Economic failure, academic failure, social failure, and they can’t handle it any more. And so they lash out to distribute their negative emotional liabilities onto others, and while they can’t gain happiness for themselves, they can also certainly try to confiscate and destroy the positive emotional assets of others.

If one takes the nominal Leftist call to “Soak the rich!” and substitutes “rich” for “happy”, “successful”, or “popular”, what do you get? The spree shooter or mass murderer.
I promise not to duck.

And this has dropped completely off the MSM radar while they re-focus on Sandy Hook....
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Of course -- because they can't blame it on those evil black rifles.

Good guy with a gun stopped it.  I'm surprised they haven't buried it totally.

"Two suspected Molotov cocktails were found inside the school, the sheriff said. One detonated but no one was injured."

Two points:
  • Suspected Molotov Cocktails.  We're not talking about a giant box with a bunch of wires, or a manifesto written in PGP-encrypted Sumerian here.  It's either a bottle of highly flammable liquid or it's not.
  • Just what were they filled with for one to "detonate?"  Nitroglycerin?

Yup. It's getting a bit more news coverage now. Which is just wonderful, seeing as how that seems to fuel the fire for the other psycho's that haven't gone supernova just yet.  ;/
