Who the heck is Rachel Ray ??
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Don't watch the Food Network do you?
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Bacon is the candy bar of meats!

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

* There have been and continue to be a small number of people who will wear a kaffiyeh with the explicit intent to support Palestinians in general, and a smaller subset who support the violent terrorism perpetrated by some Palestinian groups.
* I don't think Rachel Ray was making a statement.
* Getting that particular ad pulled for those reasons makes the complainants look like whiny children.
* Comparing all kaffiyehs to a Nazi armband is preposterous.

Up until reading this thread, I thought a kaffiyeh was worn over the head.  I did not know it could also be worn as a scarf.  I also was unaware of the political significance of the color and pattern.  I don't think I have ever seen one being worn in the Seattle area.

I learn something every day.

It's odd how bullet points can sometimes say so much more than a book.
"Human existence being an hallucination containing in itself the secondary hallucinations of day and night (the latter an insanitary condition of the atmosphere due to accretions of black air) it ill becomes any man of sense to be concerned at the illusory approach of the supreme hallucination known as death."

She and Sandra Lee seem to be the two most loathed Food Network hosts.  They actually have anti-fan clubs.

Probably because they aren't "make everything from scratch with ingredients sourced from shops you'll only find in NYC or LA" types.  They both cook more like regular people.  I'm not a huge fan of Lee and I'm burned out on Ray (she was interesting 4 years ago when I first "discovered" her), neither warrant enough effort to organize an anti club.

That's part of the problem, but a lot of it has to do with their personality "quirks".  'EVOO' and 'tablescapes'.  Sandy's outfits also draw more than a few comments.  I'm with you on Ray, she wasn't bad back in the day, but I fear she has hit saturation level.

Giadia, though is a different story.

I would like to drink sample some of Sandra Lee's mixed drinks.

Rachel Ray makes me nauseous.

1.  The scarf she's wearing in the picture isn't exactly a kaffiyeh, but close enough to mistaken for one.

2.  IIRC, There was an article recently in the Chicago Tribune about the Jewish(?) or Palestinian cloth maker who made the kaffiyeh cloth being put out of business by the cheap imports form China.

3.  If I'm looking for new recipes, I search the interswebz for Venison Helper.  grin
