Since people like to refer to those of us who are sticklers for the king's English as "grammar Nazi's", I thought this thread title should be in German.

When I drive to the gym in the afternoon, the Sean Hannity show is on. I'll catch just a few minutes, but every day he does the same thing that drives me nuts. He refers to people as objects, and to companies as people.

Example: "People that vote for..." or "Companies who make products..."

It's "people who" and "companies that"!! Now stop it!

Now back to your regular programming. Auf wiedersehen.

Defending proper grammar and usage feels akin to being a veteran living along Hadrian's Wall after the active legions have been recalled to fading Rome. The decline is inevitable. We must hope there is light after the darkness.

(Sorry. I'm waxing all poetical & stuff, dude, after a couple dry tinis, ya know? Like people that invest in companies who gut the assets and leave poor publik sckoool grads unemployd.  ;))

Depends on the media.  Here is my scale of "lack of import to important" of grammar by written media type:

WRT audio or video, I am likely to let grammar slips slide, due to the "thinking on one's feet" circumstance.

I don't get too bent out of shape by web posts that do violence to grammar, as long as they are intelligible.  Some are, however, barely more than troglodytic keyboard poundings painful to decipher. 

FTR, I do not spell or grammar check my web posts.  What gets written gets written and that is the end of that, IMO.

According to my rather limited sources, "beschwerde" means "complaint," and the plural is "beschwerden."

"mein" is masculine
"meine" is feminine

But, that's what my >limited< resources say...... :angel:

back when I was a liberal hippie punk I met Al Charlatan at a protest in NYC, this was in the early 80's when he was just another liberal community organizer dirtbag, the guy was a total jerk. I turn the channel anytime he is on the tube, never understood why he was given the time of day in the first place
