Now some people have decreed that using a "full stop" (i.e. period) to end a sentence in a text message somehow conveys something other than "this is the end of this sentence."

However, the article doesn't tell us what we should use instead of a period to end one sentence before beginning the next, so what's a person to do? i suppose were all supposed to just keep writing along as if everyone knows where 1 sentence ends and another starts even if we dont tell them right i mean isn't that the way most ppl rite these days and besides punctuation isnt necessary

Semicolon instead when joining two independent clauses? I try to use proper grammar when texting....

I think they are talking about a period at the end of the *last* sentence in a text.  I usually leave it off, but I seldom put a emoticon there in its place

IDGF about punctuation in text messages. If it's enough typing to require punctuation, it's too long for a text and I either email from a keyboard or hit the little phone icon on my phone.

I don't even care much about punctuation and grammar on internet forums. :P

That said, as to the OP -- given I'm not a 12 year old girl, when I see or use a period at the end of any sentence, it's just a *expletive deleted*ing period.
