Title: Wow, mass exodus of Dems?

Two Senators and a Governor are retiring.  All are Dems.

Sen. Christopher Dodd makes his announcement outside his home in East Haddam, Conn.
.WASHINGTON -- The retirements of two top Democratic senators underscore what many in the party had already conceded: The prognosis for Democrats in the 2010 midterm elections is looking bad.
In brief remarks Wednesday outside his home in East Haddam, Conn., Sen. Christopher Dodd confirmed he wouldn't seek re-election for a sixth term, bowing to political realities which see him trailing potential Republican opponents in a fall campaign.

All three were facing the possibility of not being reelected.  Flagging poll numbers?  Retire and allow the party to throw up a new face.  I wonder if this is a new Dem strategy....

I am hearing that they are seeing the writing on the wall that they won't be reelected, either due to the health case stuff or other stuff over the past year or two.  I am hearing people predict the Republicans will win back the House later this year.

More of the "Change we need." I'm sure BHO approved candidates will trotted out and well funded. I hope they lose spectacularly. A smart campaign against Dodd would have run ads highlighting all his corruption in the housing messes, which would have beaten paths to all those others in power who were complicit. He was a liability and my guess is his decision wasn't entirely his own to step aside.

Give Dodd a break. A guy should be able to kick back late in life and enjoy the bribes he's received.

It may be an overarching Dem strategy, I dunno.  I do know that a politician's stock falls dramatically if he loses an election.

Faced with an inevitable defeat, the best political move is to withdraw.  Live to fight another day, so to speak.  It's entirely possible that all of these Democrat resignations are the result of individuals acting independently in their own best interests.

Chris Dodd was especially deserving of a curb-kicking at the polls.  Enough people out here realize that he bears a large portion of the blame for our current economic problems, and his voters were not likely to forgive him.

I've read a few columns with similar predictions. The problem with this (I believe) is just about anyone with an "R" after their name will have a pretty good shot at being elected. I fear we'll end up with more DIABLO's than we have already.
Since we are (at the moment) fracked politically anyway, maybe we should run (I can dream can't I?) some real, Constitutionally minded folks in the near future.

I laughed my ankles off at that.

I have a hunch the representatives of the Democratic [sic] party, understanding they're going to lose some congressional seats this November, will pull out all the stops and inflict as much overt socialist Shinola on America as they can muster votes for. How about so-called "immigration reform?" How about massive tax increases? How about more eco-maniacal legislation to "protect the environment?" How about a big dose of Marxist so-called "gun control?"

I don't put anything past that bunch.

And the lame duck period scares me even more.

Rumor out there Dodd will vacate the office early and get the nod to replace Geithner at treasury.
No, really!  Not a joke.

In any case Rhambo is having words with marginal senators telling them it is best to move out with dignity and, oh by the way, save the democrat party's bacon.  Look for democrat centrists and "conservative" to come crawling out of the woodwork.

Democrat "Centrist" or "Conservative" is an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp.

Dock Morris had that hunch on Dodd replacing Geitner as well. On another note, Reid may be at risk of loosing in Nevada too.

At this point, just about anyone that is not walking lock step with Obama and Pelosi can't be worse.

Look at it this way.  In 2006, most of the newly elected dems were considered Centrists and Moderates.  Yet, they made Pelosi speaker of the House, and Reid became the Senate Majority leader.
When the important stuff, like healthcare comes up, those "loose cannons" are expected to line up behind the bosses.

Until they are replaced with true conservatives it means nothing.

All that means is that they ran as Centrists and Moderates because people were upset with Republican spending too much money.  However, when it comes to voting on principles, they vote liberal.  The centrist/moderate in D.C. is a sham.

I've heard the same thing about Dodd and some of the other "retiring" Dems getting appointments to the Chosen Administration...

...makes me wonder if, b/t now and November, a lot of legislation is passed giving unprecedented and irrevokable powers to the Executive Branch and the positions therein....and Congressional power is gutted just before the Dems lose control....

No, really!  Not a joke.

News stories are beginning to circulate about what a scumbag Geithner is.

Coincidence?

Geithner just caught his weenie in his zipper regarding AIG.  Obama can not blame it on Bush.  Ergo, Geithner will head for the bus.

If the ability to blame Bush was the test for Obama's crew, there'd be nobody left.

The Massachusetts Senate race is now a toss up.

Buoyed by a huge advantage with independents and relative disinterest from Democratic voters in the state, Republican Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley 48-47.

A republican in Mass. is leading a democrat for TED KENNEDY'S SEAT.

In other news tonight, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse was seen in Sturbridge, MA riding east at a gallop.

Folks, we've got ten months to go before the election.  Let's not be counting chickens, and all that.  A lot can change in ten months.

The MA election is happening in 10 days.  It's a special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat.

Unfortunately, it looks like the dems are fixing to delay Brown's swearing-in (http://www.bostonherald.com/business/healthcare/view.bg?articleid=1224249) if he wins, because he has promised to vote against the health care bill and make it impossible for the democrats to end a filibuster.
