A riot officer approached him from behind, as he was walking with hands in his pockets, and knocked him to the ground.

A couple minutes later he suffered a heart attack and died.

Allegedly he had already been attacked with batons before the video began.  Numerous witnesses contradict the police account of what happened.

As is plainly obvious, at least in the area being filmed, this was a legitimate protest, not masked anarchists engaging in vandalism and other crimes, so whatever your opinions about those sorts of actions (i.e. Seattle '99), leave them out of this.

IPCC Commissioner for London, Deborah Glass, said: "Initially we had accounts from independent witnesses who were on Cornhill, who told us that there had been no contact between the police and Mr Tomlinson when he collapsed.
I have to wonder who these "independent" witnesses were.  Either they were in a parallel universe or they lied.
