Title: Admins: Just had a though for a sticky thread
Post by: K Frame on December 22, 2017, 10:40:14 AM
I just had to go digging back through to find a recipe in a thread that was posted here.

I'd like to propose a new thread that be made a sticky...

It could be called "The Vouched Recipes Thread."

Simple rules...

Someone makes something. Anything -- a drink, a snack, a casserole, etc.

They judge to be so good that it should be readily available for everyone to reference as their recommendation that they give it a try.

They add it to the Vouched Recipes Thread.

It wouldn't be for stuff that LOOKS good, but stuff that they have actually made.

Good example is the Instant potato gnocchi recipe that Millcreek posted some months ago. I've made it quite a few times now and absolutely LOVE it.

Oh, and it wouldn't be for discussion. Recipes only.

I think this is an excellent idea.

Think a table of contents in the first thread to people can look there to see what recipes it contains?

Once it gets bigger I think that would be a good idea. Put it in as a placeholder now maybe

How about a locked thread so only admins can post to it via cut and paste?

No, I don't think that would serve the purpose of what I envision. Everyone should be able to add a favorite recipe to it.

I started such a thread; you've probably seen it already.  No need to make it sticky yet, let's see what it evolves (metastasizes?) into first.  I'm hoping people just post a few of their best recipes rather than post every pretty-good recipe they have.

No way in hell am I volunteering to index and maintain it :P  (would need to be an admin to do that anyway after the days to edit posts expires)

Let me make a new thread and add it as a sticky so we can have a OP that can be edited later. Please copy and paste your recipes over.

I guess don't link to a url, put the recipe up since links can change over time.

This cool??

Ok, that makes sense.

I'd like to suggest that when posting there, besides a link, that the poster also pastes the recipe into the thread. I like the links to food sites since they often have portion calculators built in (plus they send me down recipe rabbit holes). However, with other subjects we've posted on around here in the past, I have often gone back years later and found that the link was dead.

Pasting the recipe into the thread would be a good backup for future dead links.

Done, please start copy and pasting. I'm going to lock Bob's topic

Did I do it wrong?  Just curious.

No, charby just did things the government way. :P

I merged the topics as I didn't want to cut and paste (again) and figured everyone else didn't want to either. :)

Needed a blank starter thread for the future index/table contents and thread description/guidelines.

How are you going to make a table of contents or index for a running thread? Just the first few posts of the first page are already a mix of breakfast, dinner, and desserts.

First thread has the title of each recipe as it's posted when it goes past a couple pages
