Funny how the words ranted by a comedian 60+ years ago still ring true.

But how little we have learned.   =(
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

Meh. Some truth. Some not-so-truth. Thanks for posting, though. Never saw the film.

Fair speech turned to socialist trip by the choice of video accompaniment .
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Great filmmaker.

Ignorant.  "We think too much and feel too little."  That ain't true at all.  The problem I see is people "feeling" all the time and thinking not at all or with a disturbing lack of depth and foresight.

The rest sounds like an inspirational call for giving all power to a dictator.

I distinctly heard part of it being for one-world govt.  I don't call that a good speech at all.  A bunch of liberal emotional nonsense disguised as patriotism and "doing the what is right".

I view most of it as anti totalitarian speech. This was made during the rise to power of the Nazi party, hence the call against Nationalism. I don't quite see it as advocating a one World government . It does however mistake Democracy as a solution, when Anarchy is the true antithesis of all that he rants against. If you can adopt the non-aggression principle (non-initiation of force),  Anarchy is the way to go.

There is truth in the description of us becoming isolated from each other, shutting our selves in and being manipulated into needless hostilities. Also in the use and abuse of soldiers to serve the interests and twisted vision of a few elite. He is also correct about human nature being contrary to the way we are being coerced to act.
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors, must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy or perhaps both"
