Looks like Bernie is winning Iowa...
« on: February 02, 2020, 08:46:50 AM »
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/25/us/politics/democratic-iowa-poll-sanders.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur

So bad is this that the Des Moines Register refused to release the last poll before the caucuses. (They've never done that before.)

Seems the Democrats have a problem with nominating the candidate they should have nominated last election.

If they'd have nominated Bernie last election, they might have won. If they'd have nominated Hillary in 2008, they'd have had the still young, telegenic Senator from Illinois to run later.

Instead they ran Obama in 2008 and now have 0 bench to pull from.

(Of course, I don't think it matters who they run this time, they will lose bigly.)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Going to be rather interesting to see what the DNC pulls out of their rabbit hat to bury him again.

Bernie and Joe will both unexpectedly fall ill and drop out or pass away.

Luckily for the Democrats Hillary will step up and agree to run for president.

Her love of the American people and the Constitution wouldn't let it be otherwise.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Yeah, right after I typed that I had a version of Hillary's head popping up out of a rabbit hat saying "Surprise!" Not 12:00 yet is it?

Iowa is always a bit different than the other state primaries.  Bernie has some dedicated supporters, but they alone won't get him the nomination.  Will he get enough other support/votes to challenge like he did last time?  I don't know.

Do any of you know Democrats around you?  Are they enthusiastic about any of the candidates?

I believe the device they're using this time around is called a Bloomberg.

The unit I currently work with is based in Iowa, and one of the guys in my section is a Democrat.

He is not a Sanders fan, and leans towards Buttigieg.  He thinks Bernie's long history of open Socialism will be too much for the middle to swallow in a general election, especially the rust belt union folks.

Interesting speculations on Bernie, Tulsi and Hillary.

I guess we should expect things to get even crazier.

Mostly Bernie or Warren. 2nd runners up are Klobuchar, Buttigieg and Yang. Everyone else doesn't seem to even make a statistical blip.

If they pull another 2016 on Bernie this time it could light one heck of a civil war within the party  [popcorn]

I was thinking about that last night if they anoint the fallen queen at this summer's party convention.

Does the country want another president that leads from behind?

Democrats have a way of rallying together behind their candidate, I don't think they are going to stay home this fall even if it is Bloomberg on the DEM ticket.

The leadership seems awfully worried about Sanders. It wouldn't be surprising if they helped Warren with her little milkshake duck ambush a couple of weeks ago. Then again some say CNN is the Democrats' leadership these days, so...

I'm waiting for the news to spin a low GOP turnout on Iowa caucus night.

On the radio this morning, I heard a discussion about the possibility of a Bernie Bro chimpout in Milwaukee if he isn't nominated.
I say let it happen.
