Shut up and take my money: the camping coffee edition
« on: August 28, 2014, 11:22:21 AM »

Heck, I will probably take this on my business trips, too.  I can bring my own home-roasted coffee along, and I already make it five mornings a week via the french press.  I have noted with displeasure how many business/convention hotels have gone over to a cartridge coffee system in the guest rooms, and I rarely get a good cup of coffee out of those.

Oooh! Thanks for the steer. This combined with a manual grinder might be the bug-in/emergency coffee solution I've been pondering, as well as a camping & travel option.

Oh, sure.

First we were warned about the dangers of a can of coffee in the back seat.

Now someone is thinking of taking a pressure cooker and coffee on a plane.

How many pairs of blue golves probulating you is that going to attract?

(But yes, it does sound good for as long as the electricity lasts.)

stay safe.

A press for Nalgene bottles if you want to save a few bucks.

Heck, they now sell coffee singles

http://www.amazon.com/Folgers-Coffee-Singles-Classic-Roast/dp/B0055B6J9A/ref=sr_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1409269808&sr=1-3&keywords=coffee+singles

Perfect for camping.

I used to use those a lot in the '90's to augment the watered down (weak a$$ *expletive deleted*it!) truck stop (cough) coffee

I've never seen coffee bags, either. Thanks for the tip.

Coffee singles are what I use to take up any loose space in my lightweight stove kits. Not world class coffe, but when it is 33 deg and raining it sure tastes like it.

...33 deg and raining...

That sure does sound nice right now. It's been in the mid to high nineties this past week. Cancelled a camping trip, in fact.

I do the same.  I have a kit consisting of this and this.  The stove and a small gas canister fit inside the cookset.  I can get a couple coffee bags inside as well.  One "kit" lives in each of our daily drivers along with a couple quarts of water, some ramen, some cocoa for the kids, and a couple extra cups.  When I hunt in the winter, I take the one from my camping box and put it in my pack so I can have a warm beverage while I'm out.

Great idea!.
The megacorp I work for owns Nalgene, so I have a whole cupboard full of various nalgene water bottles they give out regularly as swag.

Works best if you strike camp before the battery runs down. Or the owner of the car finds out.

If you got any extra 2 litre ones you don't want and are safe to drink out of, let me know. :)
