Is this the beginning of another dust bowl?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQYKJaWuj0Y

And would Jamis please explain why the folks ran down into the basement of the control tower?  (OK, it was really a room on the first floor.)

stay safe.

Texans don't get haboobs very often.

We get 'em annually here in AZ.

I wouldn't read too much into one weather occurrence.

Dusty and windy in West Texas - who would have ever expected that ?   :P

I didn't think that was unusual up there, at least not unheard of.  Another reason not to like Texas Tech.   =)

High winds.  Towers have lots and lots of glass.  You do the math.
 :P
I'd have to look again, but I think the evac plan at EFDT calls for bailing with winds over 50. Can't remember if thats gusts or sustained.  Probably gusts.

Nothing like that.  Just some typical rivalry around Texas.  A&M is leaving for SEC anyway.

I live near a few huge dry lake beds, most of the black rock desert see's dust storms like that every so often-we call them white outs. I live in kind of a protected area due to some small mountains, the most dangerous thing is being on the road, most folks do not have the sense to either stop or drive 5mph

I believe that if a locust swarm follows THEN it would be the beginning of the end. Meanwhile, back to good old head bashing school rivalries.  [popcorn]
