SCA= Society for Creative Anachronism. A worldwide, loose-knit organization the recreates life in the Middle Ages, only romanticized. Members research Medieval methods of cooking, brewing, clothiery, blacksmithing, armoring and so on.
Estrella, or Estrella War= a gigantic weekend meeting of SCA members downaround the Phoenix area. People come from all over, camp in costume, and a bunch of guys get into armor and go at each other with rattan sticks. It's kinda like Cowboy Action Shooting, only about 600 years earlier. Lotta fun.
