Respectfully, folks have been saying that for hundreds if not thousands of years.  "These kids are out of control, society is getting less moral, the end is nigh, etc"=
I vaguely remember reading such a text that was supposed to be from the time Hammurabi reigned...
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Huh. I must have slept through all those kid's shows from way back when that had girls saying to guys, "any time, any place, any orifice."

I guess I must have missed the awards shows where Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda and other stars used the "f" word repeatedly throughout the show.

And the figures from the federal government must have been wrong back in the 60's when they showed illegitimate birth rates for whites at 15% and blacks at 30%.

Just curious. Is there anyone on this forum over 50 who disagrees with me? Is there anyone on this forum over 50 (besides Grampster)? ;)

There's Tallpine, who may've fought in the Civil War.  :P

It's all about where you came from. I'm guessing that the younger APS generation isn't bothered by the sexualization so much, since it is so prevalent as to be considered standard. It's so widespread that it doesn't get a rise out of me. Okay, sometimes I laugh. Backless dresses amuse me to no end. And most swimsuits.

Honestly, in this age of (free) hardcore porn, bare legs and backs are terribly boring. Ditto for navel-baring shirts. Etc.

Sexy clothing must be somewhat unique to remain sexy. When it becomes common, it loses its effectiveness. Oversexualization is a self-correcting trend, IMO.

I'm glad I live in a country where some people embrace those we might not  agree with.  I thought that's what America was about.  I wish more of us would do it.

My thoughts as well.  42 here, and yes, things have changed.  If you grew up during the "lets teach about sexuality and alternative lifestyles" time, you dont see how it was, before you were born.

50.5 and I agree with you Monkeyleg. We have pornorgraphy being the biggest business on the Internet. Even the most vigilant parents would find it hard to keep their kids from seeing it, which is why we find kids thinking stuff like "sexting" is no big deal, and that oral sex instead of a goodnight kiss is a girl's way of showing she's not really romantically interested in a guy.

Not that they need the Internet as you pointed out. "Family hour" shows are full of references, and it doesn't seem Hollywood can make a movie anymore without a sex scene. Not that I don't watch them -- I like a good B movie (B is for boobies) as much as the next guy, or possibly more. But I'm also into classic movies from the 30's and 40's, and if you watch them you really learn to appreciate how script writers then could put together a compelling and engaging story that didn't involve a single four letter word or set of knockers popping out of a shirt.

Anyone who thinks our cultural vitality remains unimpaired should check out HBO pop hit "True Blood."  I've had several people recommend that show to me, so I tried watching.  I got through 25 minutes of episode one before I'd had enough.  This kind of hypersexed nihilism is not the foundation of a great nation.  This is not about diversity of thought or freedom of speech, it's about TASTE.  Vulgarity is vulgarity.  Mockery is mockery.

This is true. But I'm trying to explain the motivation for having an LGBT day/month/week now. For  the modern LGBT movement, this isn't solely about sex, but about their identity.

Therein lies the problem.
Why are we/they using our/their sexual preference as an identifier?

This is not just about older Americans decrying "The Great Coarsening," it's not just about moral extravagance and delinquency, it is really about the complete triumph of moral relativism, about the pervasive inability of people in our society to make ANY moral distinctions, ANY moral judgments.  Increasingly, we have become our nerve-endings, not much more, and we are what we can get away with.

Maybe some are okay with that, I'm not.

And perhaps we could ask why "liberals" appear to be interested in only one kind of freedom, sexual freedom?

Two million Americans can't be wrong.

NEW YORK (CBS) Perez Hilton might be in some hot water after posting an uncensored photo of  Miley Cyrus' private parts to his Twitter account.

Early Monday morning, Hilton posted a picture of the 17-year-old pop star wearing a short white dress and no underwear. In the photo, Cyrus is in the midst of climbing out of an open-topped convertible car with her lady parts exposed.

For his two million plus followers to see, the celebrity blogger posted the picture with the following introduction, "If you are easily offended, do NOT click here. Oh, Miley! Warning: truly not for the easily offended!"

But it's the celebrity blogger that might need a warning. Cyrus is underage. Police might consider her naked image child pornography.

Recently, Cryus has been facing a barrage of criticism for being too sexy due to skimpy concert outfits and her edgy single, "Can't Be Tamed"

It is unclear if Hilton will face any legal trouble, but he might be setting himself up for yet another celebrity feud.
