The Constitution's authors, on "arming" the militia.

I'm reading the Constitutional Convention minutes from 23rd August, 1787, and it has some interesting discussion on the militia. Specifically, that to speak of "arming" the militia does not necessarily mean to provide them with arms.  It could simply mean specifying the type or caliber of arms to be used.

It's now no fun if I gotta 'splayn it.

The typical lefty drivel about living documents, Constitutionalists are actually terrorists, originalist doctrine is bad.

Your quote indicates founder's support for an armed populace and the 2nd amendment as a bulwark against tyranny.  And that Congress should be empowered to declare that citizens should HAVE a war-ready rifle of some specific make/caliber/etc.
