Title: Funny life insurance story.
Post by: Kingcreek on June 11, 2018, 06:46:07 PM
My wife got a letter in the mail from a law firm when we got home Friday regarding a life insurance policy but no specifics. She had to wait all weekend to call today to get any details. Turns out the guy she was married to many years ago and divorced 28 years ago and then who died 22 years ago had named her as beneficiary of a life insurance policy he took out in 1978. It was fun wondering about it all weekend but today she called the law office and found out she is getting a check for $58.

Apparently it turned up in an audit and they had to make some effort to locate her. He worked for a grocery chain for less than 2 years and some small whole life benefit was included until he quit and the policy lapsed and laid dormant for lo these many years. It's probably the last $58 she can expect to get from him.
It was funny because the letter was lacking any details. They had to confirm they were contacting the right former Mrs. so and so...

Just think how much there would have been if they didn't have those 100 dollar a month maintenance fees for the account. ;)

 :P
They had to pay it out because there wasn't enough to pay another month's account administration.
