in the winter it is cold and very wet a lot of the time.

In the summer though:

It is often Like This:
Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love
truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.

The 2nd to last pic of mountainclmbr's post is what I see everyday from a different angle and while driving into work.  Hoping to be working in the little cluster of buildings on the far left by the end of the summer.

Sindawe,

Do you mean the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) buildings on the right side of the photo, which would be on your left if you are coming in to Boulder from Longmont or Lyons?

I want nothing more than to be able to retire to the South West some day.

Mike,

During the week I often have to travel to Los Angeles for work. I get to pay this mortgage, but live in a hotel room. I must have done something really bad in a previous life.

Double bad if you have to haul your ass to LA.

I think the ONLY place on earth I want to visit less than L.A. is a slum in Calcutta, India.

Well, that's actually a few miles away, but quite a lot of Worcestershire looks a bit like that at the moment.

A summer photo from the back deck looking west. The Continental Divide follows the mountain ridge line. The mountains are between 12,000 ft and just barely under 14,000 ft. The elevation at my house is about 8,600 ft.

Looks like you live in a fairly bucolic small town and in a house that was probably built in the early 1900s.

This is a few years old, but is the most recent picture I have of my place. It was during an unusually heavy snow storm a few years ago.

My house is the middle one of the row of three.

I'm jealous.  You guys have mountains and rivers and trees and rocks and stuff.

We have ... flat.  Dead flat.  As far as the eye can see.  In every direction.  Miles and miles of miles and miles.  The Llano Estacado is the largest nearly level expanse of land in the U.S..  It's a giant 37,500 square mile pool talble.

It's all about the pancakes, people.
