Why don't we have these now! I want one too.

I'll take a pony as well please, or a Quarter Horse.

My thought as well.  Why hasn't Remington grabbed the patent and started making these?

The patent expired a long time ago.  Anybody should be able to make them.

Still, seems like a good idea to bring forward to this century.

Feh...

the SUB2000 rifle folds down to a 16" long package and all 3 share ammo AND magazines!

PS: All those magazines are seated...

I get that. The design concept is alive and well in the Kel-Tec SUB2000 rifle. If there is a demand for it, it could easily be built today. With the short Kel-Tec KSG shotgun, you are real close with better than twice the capacity.

https://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/ksg/shotgun/
Caliber   12 gauge 3”
Barrel length   18.5"
Total capacity   6+6+1
Weight empty   6.9lbs
Weight loaded   8.5lbs
Length   26.1"
Height   7"
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

The Kel-Tec doesn't take BHP magazines.  I have a BHP and a shitload of 20-round mags for it (and a few 10's, 13's, and 30's)  I don't have a Beretta or a Glock 9mm and don't really want one.

Mine takes S&W Model 59 series mags and the full size gun in the middle is an original Model 59. The bottom is a Kel-Tec P-11. The 59 series will take mags from the following models:
S&W 59
S&W 459
S&W 659
S&W 910
S&W 910S
S&W 915
S&W 5903
S&W 5904
S&W 5906
S&W 5923
S&W 5924
S&W 5926
S&W 5944
S&W 5946
S&W 5903TSW
S&W 5906TSW
S&W 5943TSW
S&W 5946TSW
S&W 469
S&W 669
S&W 6904
S&W 6906
S&W 6924
S&W 6926
S&W 6944
S&W 6946
Daewoo DP51
Daewoo DP51c

When I bought it, it was configured for SIG magazines and I converted it to S&W 59 by calling Kel-Tec and getting the S&W mag catch. The Glocks can't be converted to other models until the Gen 2 models but it takes a grip assembly swap.
Mag version available:
9mm : *Glock 17, Glock 19, S&W 59, Beretta 92, SIG 226 *
.40 Cal : *Glock 22, S&W 4006, Beretta 96, SIG 226 *

In .40 caliber. *The Glock 23 has a slightly shorter grip than the Glock 22. *Glock 23 model Subs will take Glock 23 AND Glock 22 mags (13 and 15 rounds respectively unless otherwise modified). *Glock 22 model Subs will only take Glock 22 mags. * Aftermarket high capacity .40 mags such as the Scherrer (sp?) have produced very poor results; there being only a few reports of working out of the bag and only a couple more of working once someone completely replaced the inner springs and followers. *

In 9mm. *The Glock 19 has a slightly shorter grip than the Glock 17. *Glock 19 model Subs will take Glock 19, 17 and 18 mags (15, 17 and 31 rounds respectively unless otherwise modified - note that most 18 mags usually come with the +2 extensions - see below). *Glock 17 model Subs will only take Glock 17 and 18 mags. * The high capacity 9mm Glock mags (Glock 18) work very well as they come from the bag.

Kel Tec takes good concepts and smothers them in the cradle with the big fluffy pillow of QC.

I must admit, I would love to have a modern example of it. It IS way cool and should have been better received but I guess that low demand for concealable weapons at the time, especially shotguns, may have had something to do with that.

I have a sub2000 in 40 cal.  I already have a Glock 22.  However, I didn't have any of the 22 round mags so I had to buy some of those.  I finally found www.tandemkross.com and bought some upgrade parts for my sub2000 today.  I decided not to mess with a fore grip rail right now.  Just getting metal parts for the front sight and a sling attachment point ought to be good enough.

IMO, the sub2000 is a great light weight pistol carbine.  You can stow it in a gym bad along with a magazine pouch and stash it anywhere.

The only Keltec I have had issues with is the PF9.  I still need to send that back as it won't fire at all after replacing the firing pin.

What stands out to me is the nice metal and wood construction.  They also mentioned the action closes up pretty tight.  Reproducing that today wouldn't be cheap, but they should be able to make it really nice.

I am trying to imagine a metal/wood version of the Sub2000 and failing.  Not sure if that is worth doing though.  A folding metal and wood defense carbine sounds cool though.

HeroHog, who made the fore end rail on your sub2000?
AFTER I bought the AIM Sports Solid Metal Carbine Length Weaver / Picatinny Quad Rail from Amazon, I read that it was a real pain to adapt to the SUB-2000. I found it to be REAL easy by simply clamping it to a pair of Weaver Rail Barrel Mounts from GRG MFG! See pictures below...

By canting the foregrip 45 degrees, the gun still folds and locks!

Parts List - all from Amazon (I have PRIME so I get a discount):

Tactical Foldable Vertical Foregrip Hand Grip w/ 5 Adjustable Positions
Price:,$9.90
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OD7LNC/

I also used a 45 degree adapter for the folding grip:

Weaver Rail Barrel Mount for Laser Sight, Flashlight, and Bipod by GRG MFG
Sale:,$5.92 x 2

AIM Sports Solid Metal Carbine Length Weaver / Picatinny Quad Rail Handguard System by AIM

OFF SET TACTICAL Weapon Mount For Olight M20/M21/M30, Fenix TK11, TK12, TA21, JETBeam M1X/M2S/JET-III M/RRT-1/RRT-2 and many more 1" Diameter size Flashlight by LightJunction
Price:,$5.99
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZYRV2E/

UltraFire 18650 3000mAh 3.7V Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery + Charger Combo by Ultrafire
Price:,$8.99
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LHFU62/

Ultrafire C8 Q5 5 Mode Cree Led Flashlight with 300 Lumen Output by Ultrafire
Price:,$10.75
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00547SCXG/

You will need to either Locktite the collar in place or cut off the end of the stock foregrip like I did to keep it in place as that is what controls how much tension is on the barrel catch!
