If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I would think she could have afforded more expensive stuff than that.

Probably not.  It came out a couple of weeks ago she was begging friends and family for a simple $100.

A sad, sad end to a talented woman.

Great. Another pop star (talent sure, but i'm not a fan, so whatever) death that my bosses won't shut up about.

Hopefully, it won't be as bad as MJ.

Never was a fan, but I am sad.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Just seen on Facebook:

"There's going to be a huge line outside Whitney Houston's funeral next week.
Which, coincidentally is what killed her...."

Excuse me if I can't muster up any symapthy. People like this beat the odds with a gift that allows them to live a dream life yet many piss it away on alcohol and drugs.

Like a friend mentioned on Facebook, if she wasn't famous for her talent, it wouldn't be tragic.  She would only be another druggie at the age of 48.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Talent and trouble often seem to follow hand in hand in the entertainment industry.  That is so very unfortunate.
I am going to miss her marvelous voice.  So will much of the world, I think.
To those making cruel comments, too bad for you that you feel it necessary to do so.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

My question is how is her death anymore "tragic" than any other drug user?  Plus her death isn't any more "tragic" than any death of any member of our Armed Services.

And if you truly want to talk tragic deaths, I have a friend with three young children who is widowed at the age of 32 because her 26 year old husband died from acute kidney failure this past week.  I will mourn her loss more and others like her than I will from a person such as Whitney Houston, who a lot of people look up to, that throw their life away for drugs.

Whitney Houston had more genuine talent than a number of other very, very famous musical celebs who kicked the bucket in past years. (Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking of whacked out no-talent druggie Kurt Cobain, pedophile druggie Michael Jackson, and drunken druggie Amy Winehouse, every one of which was vastly overhyped.)

I am sad that she is gone.

She had it all (talent, money, fame) and pissed it all away because she made terrible decisions.

Given that this story replays itself over and over in the US, she had nobody to blame but herself.

Lord knows there were hundreds of examples she could have learned from. She chose not to.

In the end, she is just another drug addict who has died.
