What the hell? This is a new one...

Aim Surplus has M57 Yugo Tokarevs for sale.

Only, they've got really weird triggers on them.

It looks almost as if it's been retrofitted for a Glock-style trigger safety. Anyone know anything about this? Who did it?

Got to admit, if it was to meet the import requirement for a safety, it's one hell of a lot better than the ones they drilled straight through the frames on earlier ones.

From Wikipedia of all places

Due to BATFE import restrictions, poor-quality frame or trigger safeties were frequently fitted to surplus models imported to the United States.

This model comes with the trigger safety rather the more traditional frame safety.

So thank the ATF I suppose

Interesting.

I'm seriously thinking about springing for one.

Recently M57's have been imported with trigger safeties (like seen on Glocks). Prior to these imports , M57's will be found with external safeties added to the frame or slide, requiring a hole drilled for mounting. THE ADDED SAFETY IS ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE GUN CONTROL ACT OF 1968 FOR US IMPORTATION. No military issue TT33 models were produced with a safety, with the exception of the 1958 Tokagypt (for Egypt).
Trigger safeties can be replaced with original triggers without modification.
https://www.gunboards.com/threads/m57-tokarev-with-no-safety.1204912/

So I'm taking it that to be imported the guns had to have a safety of some sort installed. The slide mounted safety required a hole to be drilled in the slide or frame. By going to a trigger safety it's easy to revert the gun back to it's original appearance by just replacing the trigger. So for the collector or someone who just prefers the gun be as original as possible this is a much better solution.

That price! Do you know how many of those I bought and sold as an FFL in the 80s? They cost me < $100 each! Yeah, the safeties were *expletive deleted*it on those though.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!
