Those statements are not the same. Freaky spin off cults that are maybe kinda sorted possibly based on the Bible are not "part of Judeo-Christian doctrine."
We are arguing from different perspectives, I think.
As a Christian, you seem to be offended that I include some freaky spin-off cults as their beliefs have nothing to do with your understanding of the Word of God. I am not meaning this as a negative reflection on Christianity - but freaky spin-off cults that are vaguely sort-of-kind-of based on the Bible are part of overall Judaeo-Christian culture from a historical point of view, even if they mightn't be such a part from a religious perspective.
I'm just saying, who knows what sort of silly beliefs this guy might have had.
Of course, his beliefs don't really have bearing on his guilt IMO, except in some narrow legalistic context.
