Same thought here.
Knowing Ds their takeaway from this will be that he's wasn't anti-gun enough

Quote from above is spot on. Chipman is simply bizarro Wayne LaPierre (who is actually bizarro Wayne LaPierre, but that's another thread).
Chipman was always an audacious nomination. Biden trying to install a paid gun control lobbyist to run the nation’s federal firearms regulatory agency was every bit as ballsy as a GOP president nominating Wayne LaPierre. It was always going to provoke tooth-and-nail opposition from the other side, but the White House apparently thought they could brazen it out.

Gah, sorry about the WaPo link. First one that came up and didn’t realize it requires subscription

Political appointee - I'd bet Giffords.

Gabby and her hubby were pro gun until the incident…..

Political appointee - I'd bet Giffords.
Does she have the mental ability to do that job? Seriously. She had/has traumatic brain injury which may make her physically unfit for the job.

You disgusting, misogynist, , ableist bigot! How dare you demand someone be capable doing a job to get appointed to it, particularly a birthing person.
Besides, we have current precedence that shows intact mental facilities are not needed for a position in a democrat administration, they just get a handler/puppet master and go to work. See how well it's working for Biden...

Probably an anti-gun ahole who was smart enough to not have himself photographed with a gun on the smoking ruins of the Waco siege.

Maybe not. Biden looking at another position for him:

Rumor I heard floating around work is that Chapman was heard telling people at an event that he was a guaranteed appointment, and that within two years of taking office, it would be illegal to touch a gun unless you were in uniform. The rumor indicates that he said it around some of the Dems who are part of the "we won't take your hunting guns" crowd, who fears a vote confirming him would cost them serious votes from the middle of the spectrum.

I could only imagine what would happen if ATF ever tried something like that….. [ar15]

When, not if, they finally decide to go that route we can look to Waco and Ruby Ridge to get an idea of how the fed will respond. They've pretty well already told us that they would be willing to use nukes against gun owners. I don't really think some of them are kidding about that.

That is a good point. However, it will depend on if there are neighbors nearby that also don't want them taking guns away. Could go a number of ways.
-
It all depends on how slowly they do it.
-
I feel like people keep forgetting that one of the outcomes of Waco and Ruby Ridge was Oklahoma City. The 90's was a very different culture, but if anything I think crazy folks going hunting for feds if they feel attacked is more likely now.
I'm not saying I endorse the tactic, but it is a pretty easily foreseeable consequence of Feds (or gods help us UN troops) getting heavy handed.
For that matter it's not confined to the right. Leftists will flat burn .gov buildings down with agents in them. "Consent of the governed" is getting pretty damn theoretical.

This needs to be repeated. For the left, it goes all the way back to at least the weather underground, and goes beyond just attacking feds.

I recall reading that Timothy McVeigh said before his execution that he wished he had killed the man who shot Vicky Weaver instead of blowing up the federal building.

Giffords would be a perfect fit
“The insurrectionists who attacked the US Capitol are the same ones pushing an extremist guns-everywhere agenda,” the tweet states. “For the safety and future of our country, lawmakers need to protect public safety and democracy from extremism and violence.”

Yeah, a real gangster move - cuz gangsters love it when something they try doesn't work out, and they have to slink away with their tails between their legs.

“Either this was impossible to win, or the strategy failed,” Chipman told the newspaper, adding, “This was a failure.” Later in the interview, Chipman described nominating someone like him – a lifelong anti-gun activist – as a “gangster move” by White House staff.
I didn't know this was supposed to be about "winning." It has always struck me that an excellent strategy for getting nominees confirmed might be to nominate well-qualified people.
I'm sooooo naive.

I bought a beer at a football game last weekend. No paperwork. I didn't even have to show ID since I no longer look anywhere close to 21. All I had to do was pay for it. Did my part to get that beer off the streets.
Saw Texas A&M play in College Station, TX with my brother and niece. Great game and visit.

It's easier to get a gun than a beer. Or a book. Or a bellhop, maybe? Or whatever starts with a "b," whatever. These lefties are too busy fighting domestic terrorism to worry about the details.
