That answers one question I had about astronaut selection... would having herpes simplex disqualify someone from astronaut selection. Evidently not. Not in the least, since they've had enough astronauts with it to perform a statistically significant study.
A side-note: Don't sleep with an astronaut. Wow.
And now I really don't want to visit the ISS, since it's a floating petri dish of astronaut biomatter.
I have to wonder if the study accounted for the increased viral reactivation as a result of general stress resultant from the dangers of spaceflight, versus some element of microgravity or radiation?
