Voter enthusiasm, 2012
« on: October 27, 2012, 04:23:49 PM »
How fired up is each side?

On the campus of U of MO - St. Louis, in 2008, every vertical surface was polluted with Hope & Change stickers.* Haven't seen anything similar this year. Still see Obama bumper stickers here and there, but not as many of those, either.

According to various reports I am hearing, Romney is drawing big, enthusiastic crowds. If so, I was quite wrong. I thought he would go over like another McCain. I'm not voting for him, though. I may just write in Todd Akin.

For the Missouri Senate race, I don't want to vote for a candidate that constantly makes offensive comments, without apology. So I'm voting for Akin. He's the only one I'm looking forward to voting for. Firstly, because the Democrats really, really need to lose the Senate. Secondly, because an Akin victory will bring forth the wailing and moaning of the hippies. And that will be intoxicating.  =D

*At least, until I found them. It's my campus, too, and if they can put stickers on lamp posts, I can remove them. Doubt they had permission, anyway.

As I've posted else where I've seen a grand total of 6 Obama signs in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.  In 2008, you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting an Obama sign.  Bumper stickers are down also.  Down to the point where I can hand write notes to the drivers about some socialist putting the Obama sticker on their car.

And I haven't seen a single Obama sign in Indiana.

Oh, and if you've been following the polls to any extent.  Obama has been at 44% to 47% since they started doing the polls.   Romney has gone from 40ish% to 48-51% (depending on the poll).

Obama plateaued early and has stayed there.  Romney's support has grown as more people got to see him in the debates.

Momentum is going Romney's way.

One Obama yard sign in my neighborhood. Seen a handful of bumper stickers in downtown Seattle, almost always on Prii.

No Mitt love aside from an enormous sign visible at the south bound NE 8th (or 4th, I forget which) exit from 405. Saw that a few weeks back, no idea if it's still there. Even if I liked Romney I'd not put a sign for him in my yard, good way to get your house vandalized. And with my wife and daughter at home during the day...

Just to update,  I saw exactly zero Obama signs last weekend while I was in Indianapolis (same with along I-65).  Numerous Romney signs.   Howevr I did not venture into the upper west side nor into Broad Ripple.

Not that Obama is expect to carry the Hoosier state.

I am up to seven Obama sign sightings here the western suburbs of Chicago.

There's a few out here.  Enough to make me worried about the CCW referendum vote in this county.

They walk among us.

Seen a number of Gary Johnson signs. He likely has my vote, as Mickey Mouse will never get my POTUS vote due to his involvement in numerous disastrous intellectual property laws.

Romney has a slight edge in signs, but not by much that I've seen. Yep, nowhere near the same number of signs as 2008.

Here in Portland (or Moscow on the Willamette, as one local talk show host calls it), I would definitely say there are fewer Obama signs out than last time around.  I haven't had much occasion to wander into downtown proper, but out in the suburbs, I definitely see almost a 1:1 ratio of Obama to Romney signs.

If it wasn't for the news, I am not sure I would realize there was an election here.  Neither candidate spends any money at all in Texas.  I'll take it as a blessing.

It was necessary that I traverse "that" section of the city today.

Unless the drizzle of the last two days has washed them all downstream, there were darned few Obama-Biden signs or bumper stickers.

Other parts of the city are running about 4 or 5:1 Romney v. Obama.

His base may be vocal, but they sure are not working the visuals.

Unconfirmed talk being repeated is that the base wants[/] Obama to come through with all the promises he has made but are now beginning to wonder if the rich really have enough money to cover the costs.  The trash talk about what they would do to Romney if he wins, if they just had the chance, seems to be being replaced with trash talk about what they will do if the free cheese does not keep flowing.

The trash talk is just not "enthusiastic" - yet.

There's a Ron Paul sign at the end of the road here, couple Romney signs out by the highway, and the rest are all local politicos. I don't remember the last time I saw an Obama sign. The occasional bumper sticker. Our county is split about 50/50 racially, so I'd have expected to see more, but I think many folks here have resigned themselves to focusing on local candidates that they feel they have some control over.

I've seen a couple bumper stickers and exactly one Obama sign.

Heck, even in NJ the Anti-Obama signs beat out the for Obama signs at least 2 to 1.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

One note on this. It has been my (admittedly limited given my age at 34) experience that Republicans don't need to win the sign war to win. They just need to not be vastly outnumbered.

This is part of the reason why I'm certain Obama is going down and going down handily, probably by more than be beat McCain.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
