Texas, anyone?
« on: April 23, 2010, 12:07:16 PM »
Okay, the official moving date is the 27th of May!  We're stoked
League City is still the likely candidate.  Heading out this Tuesday to find a rental.

Who's in Texas, and where?

Yankee by birth, Texan by choice.

Live just west of Austin.
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Northeast of Dallas, but possibly for not much longer, who knows what's in store for me lately!

Research, talking to old friends down there, and school district research.  Trying to stay close to the water, too.  We used to live in Beaumont and Brownsville, the humidity ain't new  ;)
However, the League City area is a big leap.  We've been in the area before, but not spent a substansial amount of time there.

We've got tons of CoE lakes.  There's Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Lavon right near where I live, if that's water enough.  These things are all over the place here.

50 miles due southeast of downtown Dallas. Stop in at stetson's house and he'll give you directions and tell you where to stop to pick up the beer.

Lake Ray Hubbard is right up the road from me, off Hwy 80.

If you are that close, you need to stop at the gunshop in Forney

I wish I was in TX...or pretty much any of the Southwestern states excepting Cali. Beautiful scenery...and my allergies don't act up out that way.

The Trinity River area around Dallas was considered to be a place of death by the indians way back whendue to their poor health when they hung around teh area.  Seems pollen from every danged land type blows through at one time or another.  So, of course, the white folks build a city here.  Go figure.

Avenger, if you don't have allergies here (Central Texas - I'm a little north of Austin), you might not have allergies.  :D  I suffer year round, but even a lot people who say they don't have allergies seem to be afflicted during the springtime here.

I like bigger, saltier lakes.

Lake Jackson.
I used to live in Clear Lake near NASA.  League City is a nice place.  There is a public rifle range sort of between League City and Kema.  I forget the name.  It has 100 and 200 yard ranges.  I'm not sure what else is out there.  If you want to join a gun club over near Brazoria, I might be able to help you out.  There are gun clubs closer to you.  I know there is one near Alvin not too far away (PSC gun range I think).
Lots of good restaurants and seafood in Kema.

This site is a good site for more local shooting information.  Lots of posters around Houston and I think site owner or mods are members at PSC gun club.  I am not completely sure though.

Im not sure if the range still exists but I have a target from Southwest Rifle Range (Boss-Gaston Rd.) hanging on my wall.  It's from my first shot with a rifle larger than .22.
