A new book by Anne Rice that I'm reading.

It's a very pleasurable read that I would describe as a fictualization of a year in the life of Yesuah Ben Joseph as a small child living in Alexandria/Nazareth.

Even if you're not a Christian or view the Christian Testament as fairy tales (and FWIW I don't agree with her doctrine either) the book is worth light reading time as a pretty portrait of family life (no idea whether it's accurate or not, but details suggest quite a bit of research was put into it) of a Jewish family living in that time period. Shades of James Michener here. I think readers might be surprised by her treatment of the Pharisees.

It's not got any of the sexualized stuff that other books of hers that I've read are.

Actually I found Monty Python's Life of Brian a surprisingly accurate depiction of life in the land of Israel at that time.
