I like the Chromebook.  Perhaps I should say that I want to like the Chromebook.

There are just too damn many little irritations.  My main irritation is that there is no easy way to turn off the touchpad.  I use a wireless mouse.  The touchpad is located so that unless you DON'T rest your palms, you will eventually wind up brushing the touchpad and causing unpredictable mayhem.

Bite me, Chromebook!    [ar15] [ar15]

And now I see the thread topic.  That didn't used to be the thread topic.  I must have brushed the *expletive deleted*ing touchpad as I was entering the OP and ruined the topic subject.

I have found the Chromebox useful for letting your kids watch funny cat videos on youtube.  And not much else.

Actually, that was an old proofreader's term for it.  Don't know if it still is.

Laughed like hell over your dilemma with the thread title.

I have the same problem with an old laptop confuter I have.  You barely touch that touchpad with an old dry gray hair and VOOM! off goes the cursor while you're typing and you end up inserting words in something you've already typed.  It's a special-use machine I only use rarely for backups on something, so I haven't bothered to disable or desensitize it and use a USB mouse.

So I just treat it like I handled Wife2 --with care.  No touch-typing, one finger at a time.

WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

I hate touch pads with a blinding, purple passion. For exactly the reason already stated -- an accidental touch when typing and the cursor goes wherever it wants, which is invariably where I don't want it to be.

To be fair, there is a method to disable the touchpad.  An arcane bit of witchery that has to be written down, since it's not something easily memorized, and also reverts when you reboot the damn thing.

And, if you happen to brush the touchpad with anything while you're casting the spell to disable the bitch....
