Romney & Huckabee are Top GOP Presidential Contenders
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:16:17 PM »
It appears a large number of GOP voters are idiots. Please oh please can we have some Republicans running for the Republican nomination?

Quote from: article above
Among voters who consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement, Huckabee (19 percent) and Romney (17 percent) are still the top two choices

What is it about media mis-attribution of Tea Partiers?  Sheesh.  A Bible-Belt Populist and a New England sissy RINO blueblood that likes State Healthcare are "favorites" of Tea Partiers?  Somehow I doubt it.

Meh. It's name recognition. Whoever you were hoping to find at the top of the list (Pawlenty, Christie, etc.), they're not getting any support because no one's heard of them. Palin, Paul and Gingrich have had too much negative thrown against them, so they're not polling any higher, either.

Sarah Palin is an idiot.   Left alone in a room with a piece of paper and a pen I don't think she could write a letter.

Wow.  Way to go, Republican Party, snatch that defeat from the jaws of victory!

At least Huckabee is pro-2nd, and didn't sign a universal healthcare bill into law. I still don't get how Romney is a fiscal conservative.  ???

My big problem with Huckabee is that he's constantly talking about how getting things done in government is all about compromise. Well, he's mostly correct, but given how uncompromising Dems have been of late (i.e., "Pass the health care law and then we'll let you read what's in it"), I don't want someone in office who'll give up the farm without a fight.

Guys like Romney and Huckabee, in addition to being RINO material, are "muddle through" candidates that reflect the desire of too many Republicans and especially the GOP elite to not come to grips with the gravity of what we are facing economically, socially, culturally, and politically.  Unless we embrace the "extremism" of reality we can kiss this Republic goodbye.

There is plenty of track record out there for me to not trust east coast rinos or Arkansas governors.

At this point I think the GOP should just mount Bob Dole to a stool, set him on stage, and let 1996 (sans Perot) play out again.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I'm hearing that Huckabee dropped out.

I'm hoping that Chuck Norris is responsible for this.  Now if we can just get Chuck to take a trip up to Taxachusetts and glare sternly at Romney.

Cut the size of government and you almost by default reduce corruption.

If opening a business requires the decisionmaking of 100 clerks following vague standards, it's almost a recipe for corruption.
