Video editing question
« on: August 28, 2022, 04:58:15 PM »
Every once in awhile I see a video on YouTube in which there's the main video, and in one corner of the screen there's an inset showing a second video.

How is that done? Can that be done using Microsoft MovieMaker, or does it require more sophisticated, aftermarket editing software?

I suspect the term you're looking for is "Picture in picture"

You can do that with VSDC Video Editor, the free version.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

A friend asked his wife, who informed me (and him) that the correct term is "overlay," not "inset." Armed with that information, I found a couple of freeware video editors that claim to be able to handle the task. (Windows MovieMaker is not one of them -- not any edition.) VSDC appears to be the best of the bunch, so I may have to experiment a bit.

Thanks, y'all.
