We don’t go out to eat very often. Yesterday was a very busy day and wife and I were both in town on different schedules. We have a little family run Mexican restaurant. Super nice clean people I’m sure they live upstairs. It’s a very basic shoestring operation. They opened just a couple months before the Covid and I’m sure they struggle and just get by. We like to support them.
The owner’s son works the front and mom and dad work the kitchen. The joke is I’m always trying to expand my espaniol when there. I ordered tres Mexican tacos, marinated pork with onion and cilantro. I asked for hot salsa. In his limited English he asked if I wanted “leetle bit hot?”
I said muy caliente.
When he brought it out he laughed at me and said he is Mexican but it’s too hot for him.
It tasted great and I used it liberally. My nose ran for an hour.
Today I’m experiencing different symptoms. Oh well, as they say, this too shall pass.
Probably not gonna ask for it next time.

If you liked it, ask for it.
But don't swim in it!

There's a place in Ruidoso, NM, that has, hands down, the best salsa verde I've ever tasted. It's also about the spiciest thing I've ever eaten. It's a race between the next spoonful and keeping snot from dripping down your face.

On Taco Tuesday night at my nearby pub, I introduced Valentino, both Yellow Label and Black Label.
