A new buzz word in the battle for an AWB
« on: Today at 06:10:52 PM »
Ohio introduced a new bill to ban the possession of Mass Casualty Weapons.  Per the news story, a Mass Casualty Weapon is any semiautomatic firearm designed or modified to fire 31 or more rounds without reloading.  Talking head said that it's intended to eliminate weapons of war that are perfect for mass shootings.  (Insert eye roll here.)  Haven't looked it up yet, but it would seem if this news story is correct, any semi-auto with detachable magazines fits this definition.  I'm guessing Assault Weapon isn't getting the visceral reaction they want. So Mass Casualty Weapon is better for getting the uneducated masses to go along with this one.

They know we won the language war on "Assault Weapon" and that they cannot grey the line between a machine gun and a semiautomatic weapon, so they're trying to invent a new term rather than co-opting one that already exists.  Taking a page from the LGBTQWERTY gang and their Pronoun Police.
